Campus & Community Events

Creating Calm, Community, and Connection at the University of Arkansas Libraries

As the Public Relations Assistant for the University of Arkansas Libraries, I led two major student-focused projects that combined event coordination, digital storytelling, design, and strategic communication to support wellness and community engagement during high-stress times on campus. These projects reflect my ability to independently plan, execute, promote meaningful campaigns from start to finish and to adapt quickly when plans change.

Note: All graphics, images, collages, and visual assets shown on this page were created by me. I handled all design, photography, and editing independently using Adobe Creative Suite and other tools as needed.

Stressbusters Fundraiser | One Day, One U of A

Objective: Raise funds to support finals week programming for students.

My Role: Campaign Visuals Lead, Social Media Manager, and Fundraising Communicator

As part of a team of two, I spearheaded the creative and communications strategy for the University Libraries' campaign as part of the university-wide giving day. Our goal was to fund snacks, games, and study support during finals week.

Impact: Together with my teammate, we raised $3,000 in one day. Exceeding our goal and providing real support to hundreds of students.

Key contributions:

  • Shot and edited a full suite of campaign images using Lightroom and Photoshop

  • Created a mock student event to stage high-quality visuals for the campaign landing page

  • Designed and published Instagram and Facebook posts to drive donations

  • Reached out to family, friends, and local contacts to promote the campaign

  • Helped answer donor questions throughout the day and provided live updates

Finals Week Therapy Dog Events

Objective: Reduce student stress and promote library resources during finals week.

My Role: Planner, Designer, Communicator, and Photographer

Working independently, I brought in the local nonprofit Love On A Leash for two days of therapy dog visits during finals week. It was one of the most popular student event of the semester at the University Libraries. I used the library’s new outdoor patio and open indoor spaces to create a visually inviting and accessible environment for all students.

Impact: The events brought in dozens of students each day, drawing attention through foot traffic, visuals, and word-of-mouth. They became some of the library’s most liked and shared social media posts of the semester, significantly boosting student engagement and reinforcing the library’s role as a campus wellness space.

I managed every aspect of these events, including:

Key contributions:

  • Designing all promotional materials using Adobe Illustrator

  • Printing and placing event posters at both main library entrances and key outdoor areas to increase visibility and foot traffic

  • Coordinating outdoor and indoor logistics, including tent setup and directional signage

  • Handling last-minute weather challenges by relocating the event indoors and printing new signage

  • Navigating new digital parking systems to secure volunteer parking

  • Greeting and managing volunteers, including coordinating with the Love On A Leash Fayetteville chapter

  • Capturing photos for internal use and social media coverage

  • Promoting the event across Instagram, Facebook, and internal library communications
